Apple launched the new iPad Pro model at the pegas program loaded. The new iPad Pro comes in an option of 11 inches and 12.9 inches the same, but displays some improvements that apply to their predecessors. Both devices run on the same M1 processor that moves several Macs, features up to 16GB of RAM and up to 2TB of storage. Also, Pro iPad comes with optional 5G support. But the best upgrade involves a 12.9-inch model display.
The larger iPad Pro displays a mini-LED screen. That is the look of a new liquid XDR Retina that offers the same performance as the XDR Pro Apple monitor which sells for $ 5,000. A new report said the same display technology might be available for a 14-inch Macbook and 16 inches that Apple will launch later this year.
Last year’s report said that Apple plans to bring mini-LED screen technology to the iPad and MacBook lanes, starting with the iPad Pro and several MacBook Pro versions.
The source familiar with the Apple supply chain has notified digitimes (through macrumor) that TSMT has discussed technical challenges for the mini-LED screen production for a 14-inch MacBook Pro model and 16 inches.
Digitimes reported that “TSMT is an exclusive provider of SMT services for the newly launched 12.9-inch iPad Pro Mini-LED backlight and is expected to do the same for two upcoming MacBook minil-backlit models, said source.”
Apple suppliers have dealt with various production products for major mini-led components, including circuit boards and adhesive materials on the mini LED screen intended for new MacBook notebooks. TSMT has adjusted its techniques, increasing production levels of up to more than 95%.
Liquid Pro Pro XDR Retina Screen offers a 1,000,000: 1000 contrast ratio, 1000 nits full screen brightness, 1600 nits peak brightness, p3 wide gamut, and 120Hz promotion support. This screen displays a layer made of 10,000 mini-LED groups to 2,500 local dimming zones, as seen below. This allows Apple to adjust brightness accurately and reach 1,000,000: 1 contrast ratio.
The same technology must be available in this year’s Pro MacBook if the report is accurate.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro model and 16 inches may be launched far later this year. They will succeed the 13-inch MacBook Pro model and 16 inches currently running on the M1 and Intel chips. The 2021 MacBook Pro laptop will display the Apple M-Series processor, the possibility of the successor to M1.
Mini-LED display upgrades are not the only change planned for the MacBook Pro 2021 model. Another report is claimed earlier this year that Apple plans the main redesign for notebooks. The new MacBooks will bring back support for magsafe chargers and enter additional ports compared to the previous version. The touch bar might also be lost, the same report said.
