In its efforts to compete with Amazon, Walmart has begun to invest in its own cellphone hardware and entertainment. Unlike the Amazon fire device, however, the Onn Walmart brand has lived directly below the blessed Google Android ecosystem, which means access to the Google Play Store and service. That’s right for tablets and now it looks like it will apply to Walmart’s first streaming device. It might not be an HDMI stick that we have seen before but the opposite will be the Android onn TV box.
Even though we were expecting Walmart to jump on Ambragon Streaming, the first device we saw in the direction was the Android TV stick passed by the FCC last March. However, it was not a device that suddenly appeared on the Walmart website itself a few days ago. Instead of sticks, the first onn streaming device may be a branded Google ADT-3.
Google’s Android Android ADT-3 developer kit is more than a year, not striking, and quite boring visually. That’s exactly the Walmart onn Android TV device, save for an onn name engraved above. Even has the same position for HDMI ports and Micro USB power ports on the opposite side, the same as Google ADT-3.
The most interesting part of the package is, in fact, the remote control is completely different and new. Unlike ADT-3, it has more buttons to offer, including dedicated to Netflix, YouTube, Disney +, and HBO Max. There is also a button for Google Assistant, of course, but has been enlarged and moved up.
Listing has been completed for days, indicating that it is not just a mistake. This page also places a price of $ 30 on the UHD Walmart onn Android streaming device and the remaining is for retailers to officially launch the product.
