Apple airtag can be designed to make hunting things easier, but there is a secret debug menu in the Find My application that opens additional details about location trackers. Launched last month, every airtag has Bluetooth and wideband ultra to determine not only in terms of distance from your iPhone, but the direction is.
There is inside the interface – Apple calls the findings of precision – where the Mystery Debug Mode has been found. Usually, UI is quite peeled, with a reading about how far the airtag is and, if you have the latest iPhone with a U1 chipset, the arrow that points you in the right direction.
Tap the airtag name four times, and the debug interface appears above. It was seen by Reddit Alex Magri-Olson, 9to5mac, and seemed to be the rest of the apple to improve tracking performance.
There are a number of different things that are displayed at once. Above, there is information about the iPhone orientation itself – it is necessary to find out where you are facing the direction – and the location of the airtag. It also shows whether Apple Haptics is active, with a smartphone vibrating in a different way depending on how close you are to the tracker and if you face the right way.
Underneath which is a row of options for the number of points on the screen for the arrow animation, plus the switch for “ECO mode” which reduces the camera resolution.
Finally, there is a set of sliders that change the appearance of the camera pass-througe when you are in precision findings mode. It should be noted that, while you can reset each slider by tapping the label to the left, generally there are no overall reset options so that it is possible for not overwhelming too much you change something and cannot restore Apple’s default.
Usually, an interface like this is removed before the software vessel version to the end user. After all, there is someone’s potential to make unintentional changes to the settings, and find that they have disrupted how to do accessories. Whether Apple is meant to leave this debug interface comes, then, it is not clear, and it is very possible that it might be lost with the release of the next iOS.
What we expected was added, meanwhile, are some new settings that might help every airtag become more useful. At present, for example, the tracker can only be associated with an individual Apple ID, which means that the marked items, together cannot be found at Find by the family group.
