Today Disney released a real mechanical world lightsaber video that will appear in their Galactic Starcruiser experience. It was a two-night vacation event at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida which would open in 2022. Lightsaber was real – real as far as your eyes were concerned, and real because you would see it directly the resort experience. Let’s talk about how it works.
The lightsaber that we see is still a prop. It’s not meant to be destroyed against anything, and you don’t want to try using it to cut a hole in any blast door. Not the type of laser sword. Instead, this is a sophisticated eye trick.
Based on the patent for this blade as submitted by Disney Enterprises in 2017, we can collect truth. “Sword devices with blades that can be withdrawn, illuminated internally” almost certainly the realization of the Disney work year invested in making lightsaber as needed, perfect for this very close experience.
You will see that the video above is very simple. The actress in Rey Garb did not whip back and forth after being extended – this was only intended to peek first, kind.
The Hilt device contains flexible lights, together, forming an unbroken “” “blade”. The lamp strip is extended from the lightsaber handle along the pair of semi-cylinder plastic. This semi-cylinder is made of thin plastic that can be rolled on the lightsaber handle.
On the head of the lightsaber is a hat. Hats keep both sides of the blade along with pieces of light in the middle. DriveTrains on the roll handle strip roll, push the lid out. When the strip roll moves past the head of the handle, they curved into both sides of the circle that formed the blade.
Sort assemblies like extended tape size. The strip rolled inside the agency of measuring tape in a flat roll, but because it extends outwards, it returns to a natural state – average and long and tense, to a point. Lightsaber like having two steps recording with the end that is connected to a hat, with a lightweight strip in the middle.
This kind of hardware cannot be cheap – but maybe someday it is produced in a considerable amount so we can buy one at a reasonable price. For now, the first place we will see the types of “real” lightsaber in the real world is at Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser – it will be neat!
