Twitter finally gave the search for DM more attention. Nearly two years after introducing a search feature to DMS on iOS and the web, the company finally brings updates to Android.
This feature will be a “enhanced version” of the existing search feature and will allow users to search through the entire history of their DM, not just the latest message. The company also works on the ability to find message content, not just senders. The update will come “later this year.”
This may sound like a relatively small update, but the inability to efficiently seek direct messages has long been a pain point for anyone who uses this feature. Trying to find a message for a few months or years almost impossible unless you are willing to scroll without stopping through a long chat to find it. But with a new search bar, looking for DM Twitter is expected to be more like other messaging applications.
